The Jim Crow laws were rules that were applied to African american men, woman, and children. They were laws that discriminated them from white men because people felt that the African Americans were not equal to white men. Some things applied to these African Americans were they couldn't sit in the same car as whites or even they couldn't use the same bathroom or go to the same restaurants. This occurred in most parts of the south right after the civil war was over. Other groups were also discriminated like Native Americans and immigrants from foreign countries such as the Chinese.
